Parts sourcing

Genuine Parts Sourcing for Garages, Bodyshops and Specialists

REMCAM sources genuine manufacturer parts for the UK motor trade — including the rare, obsolete and back-ordered components that conventional supply channels can't deliver. Send us the registration, VIN or part number and we'll search our sourcing network.

What we source

Car parts sourcing is the work that happens between a workshop needing a part and that part arriving on the bench. Most of the time the local dealer or motor factor covers it. Our service exists for the rest: the parts that are on national back order, the lines a manufacturer has discontinued, the components for low-volume marques that no UK stockist carries, and the odd items that a restoration or accident repair suddenly depends on.

  • Genuine manufacturer parts for all makes — mechanical, electrical, trim and body — supplied new in manufacturer packaging. See genuine OEM parts sourcing.
  • Obsolete, discontinued and no-longer-available (NLA) parts — lines the manufacturer has stopped producing or stopped supplying to the UK. See obsolete and discontinued parts.
  • Back-ordered parts — components showing as available but with no UK stock and no reliable date. See back-ordered parts.
  • Hard-to-find and rare parts for specialist, low-volume and imported vehicles. See hard-to-find parts.
  • Classic and vintage car parts, and the parts a restoration needs over the life of a project. See classic car parts and restoration parts.
  • Prestige, performance and supercar parts — where dealer lead times and pricing are often the reason a car sits unfinished. See prestige and supercar parts.
  • Genuine body panels, bumpers and glazing for bodyshops. See body panels.
  • Mechanical components — engine, transmission, suspension, braking, cooling and electrical. See mechanical components.

Who we work with

REMCAM is a trade-only service. We work with independent garages, franchised and independent bodyshops, accident repair centres, restoration specialists, classic and prestige vehicle specialists, fleet workshops and other automotive professionals across the UK. We do not supply the public. If you are a private owner, your garage or restorer can send us the request on your behalf.

Working trade-only matters for the way we operate. A parts request from a workshop comes with a registration or VIN, usually an estimate or a diagram reference, and a clear idea of what the job needs. That lets us go straight to identifying the correct part number and searching for it, rather than spending the first few exchanges working out what the vehicle is.

How sourcing works

The process is the same three steps whatever the part, but here is what actually happens once your request lands with us.

  1. You send the request. Use the form on this page, the Request a Part page, email or phone. Include the registration or VIN, a description of the part and, if you have it, the part number, an estimate line or a photograph. The more identification you give us, the faster the search.
  2. We identify the part. We confirm the exact manufacturer part number for that specific vehicle — build date, trim level, market and any supersessions included — so that what arrives is what fits. Where a number has been superseded we tell you which number replaces it.
  3. We search our network. We check availability with specialist suppliers and automotive contacts in the UK and internationally. For obsolete lines this can mean overseas markets where the part is still supplied, manufacturer heritage and classic programmes, or genuine new-old stock.
  4. We come back with availability and pricing. You get a clear answer: what we can supply, where it is coming from, the price and the expected lead time for that specific source. If a part genuinely cannot be found we say so, so you can plan the repair another way.
  5. You confirm and we arrange delivery. Once you approve, we place the order and arrange delivery to your workshop, or to another UK address if that suits the job better. International delivery is arranged where applicable.

What to send us

You do not need to know the part number. A registration or VIN lets us identify the vehicle precisely (the DVLA's public vehicle information service shows the basic record a registration holds), and a photograph of the part, its label or the damaged area often answers questions before we need to ask them. Where you do have a part number from a diagram, an estimate or an old box, include it — it removes ambiguity on parts with several variants.

Don't know the part number? No problem. Send us the registration or VIN and as much information as you have.

If you are unsure how to find a VIN or what information a registration actually reveals, our guide on finding car parts by VIN or registration walks through it, including where the VIN plate sits on most vehicles and why the V5C is worth having to hand.

Genuine parts, clearly described

We source genuine manufacturer parts — components supplied through the vehicle manufacturer's own parts system, carrying the manufacturer's part number and packaging. When a request could be met by a different category of part (an OEM-manufactured part in supplier packaging, for example, or a remanufactured unit for a discontinued line) we tell you what it is before you order, so the decision is yours and your customer's. Our guide to genuine, OEM, OES and aftermarket parts explains the differences in detail.

REMCAM Automotive Ltd is an independent parts-sourcing specialist and is not affiliated with, approved by or an authorised agent of any vehicle manufacturer. Manufacturer names are used to identify the vehicles we source parts for.

UK and international delivery

Delivery is arranged per part, because the route depends on where the part is coming from. A component held by a UK supplier travels differently from a panel located in mainland Europe or a new-old-stock item from further afield. When we quote, we give you the lead time for that source rather than a blanket promise, and we keep you updated if anything changes in transit. We deliver across the UK and can arrange international delivery where a job requires it.

Why lead times vary

  • UK-stocked genuine parts are normally the quickest, subject to supplier stock at the time of ordering.
  • Parts from overseas markets add transit and, for some origins, customs handling — we factor this into the quote.
  • Heritage and classic programme parts are sometimes produced in batches, so a date can depend on the manufacturer's schedule.
  • New-old stock and remanufactured items depend on a specific source; we confirm the item exists before quoting.

Sourcing for accident repair and key-to-key times

For a bodyshop, a part on back order is a car occupying a bay and a customer in a courtesy vehicle. We work from the estimate — Audatex or your own — to identify every genuine part on the job, flag the ones with supply problems early and search for those in parallel with the standard order. Bodyshops also use our manufacturer repair methods service for the structural information a repair needs, and our bodyshop support services for courtesy vehicles and recovery.

Parts Sourcing: frequently asked questions

Do you supply parts to the public?

No. REMCAM is a trade-only service for garages, bodyshops, restoration specialists and other automotive professionals. If you are a private owner, ask your garage or restorer to send us the request.

Do I need a part number to request a part?

No. A registration or VIN is enough for us to identify the vehicle and find the correct manufacturer part number. If you do have a number from an estimate or diagram, include it — it speeds up parts with several variants.

Do you sell non-genuine parts?

We source genuine manufacturer parts. If a request can only be met by a different category of part — for example a remanufactured unit for a discontinued line — we tell you exactly what it is before you order.

Where do you source parts from?

From specialist suppliers and automotive contacts in the UK and internationally. For obsolete lines that can include overseas markets where the part is still supplied, manufacturer heritage programmes and genuine new-old stock.

How long does sourcing take?

It depends on the part and where it is coming from. UK-stocked genuine parts are usually quickest; overseas, heritage-programme and new-old-stock parts take longer. We give you a lead time for the specific source when we quote rather than a blanket promise.

Do you deliver internationally?

Yes, where a job requires it. Most of our deliveries are to UK workshops, but international delivery can be arranged when we quote.

Can't find the part? Let us find it.

Send us the registration, VIN or part number and we'll search our sourcing network.
